The fifth-generation iPad Air due to be unveiled tonight at Apple’s first keynote of the year is said to feature a series of vastly improved internals, according to a plausible report out of Asia. It comes in addition to those of the iPhone SE 3 and iPhone 14.
A doubling of RAM on the iPad Air 5
According to yet another publication by the “yeux1122” account on the Naver site, the iPad Air 5 will indeed be equipped with the M1 chip. The M1 chip has an 8-core CPU and a 7 or 8-core GPU, and comparatively, the A15 chip has a 6-core CPU and a 5-core GPU. In addition to this, the iPad Air 2022 will be credited with 8 GB of RAM, double what the current iPad Air 4 offers.
The new iPad Air would also come with a storage capacity of 128 GB, compared to 64 GB for the previous model. The fifth generation iPad Air would keep its price list, ie 599 dollars or 669 euros.
The leaker started to make a name for himself by bringing up the size change of the iPad Mini 6 before anyone else (even if the dimension was not exact) and then with unpublished details on the iPhone SE 3 and the iPhone. iPhone 14.
Previous iPad Air 5 rumors suggested it would be very similar to the iPad mini 6, with the A15 Bionic chip and 5G connectivity. Adding the M1 chip to the iPad Air would bring it closer to the pricier, higher-end iPad Pro, but standing out with the 120Hz ProMotion display (+ mini-LED in the 12.9-inch model) ), the dual rear camera and the LiDAR camera.
Who could be tempted by the iPad Air 2022? Find out tonight at 7 p.m. during the Apple keynote.
