He new design of the buttons on the side of the iPhone 15 Pro and of the iPhone 15 Pro Max –popularly known as iPhone 15 Ultra– is giving a lot of play. If very relevant information was leaked this morning indicating that the volume control panel of the iPhone 15 would continue to be active even when the device is turned off, now a super forceful rumor has come out again that suggests spectacular news for the mute switch.
In principle, in addition to this change in the physical volume buttons, everything seems to point to the fact that the company with the apple logo also intended to replace the switch to mute the sound that has been present in all iPhone models by a small button. From MacRumors They report that one of their anonymous sources claims that the mute switch will become an action button with multiple functions.
The iPhone sound switch is one of the most iconic elements from the history of the Apple smartphone, next to the home button. It has always been there. In fact, it has happened to all of us at some point accidentally turned off the sound through this little switch. And maybe, and just maybe, this is one of the reasons why Apple wants to get rid of it.
Now the iPhone 15 Pro will have a physical action button along with a haptic “no button” that will react with small vibrations before different levels of pressure to control the volume of the device.
The new “action” button, as they call it at MacRumors, could offer a wide variety of functions. These are some of the functions you could trigger:
- mute sound
- do not disturb mode
- rotation lock
- Screenshots
- screen recording
- turn on the flash
- low power mode
- Activate Reachability
- run a shortcut
- Open Control Center
- Open Notification Center
- Other accessibility features
On the other hand, recently we have also been able to discover that Apple is currently testing various versions of the new touch panel to control the volume of the iPhone 15 Pro in its prototypes. The first version would consist of a touch panel that would adjust the volume more or less quickly depending on the level of pressurewhile the second version refers to a tactile button with swipe gestures to increase and decrease the volume. What do you think about this drastic design change on the edge of the iPhone 15 Pro models?
