The KonMari method is an approach to organize and simplify life at different levels which is based on the idea of keeping only those things that bring joy and getting rid of everything else. One of the points of this process, which is based on several steps, is related to the choice of belongings.
You must classify belongings by categories (clothes, books, papers, komono -various objects-, and sentimental objects) and select each item, asking if it brings “brings joy”. If it doesn’t, you can throw it away and if you want to keep it, you should organize what you decide to keep in a designated place, preferably in a way that is visually attractive and easy to maintain.
The KonMari method has become very popular due to its focus on emotional connection with the things we own and its promise of a more organized and harmonious space.
In relation to clothing, this method advises get rid of clothes we no longer wear and that can cause discouragement when seeing it. Once we are clear about what clothes we need, we must organize them properly in the closet and drawers to maintain constant order.
The method to fold t-shirts
To achieve an adequate order it is best organize the inside of the closet or drawers by categories. Shirts in one area, t-shirts in another, pants in another and so on with all of them. All clothes in the closet must be organized following precise criteria.
This KonMari method also provides a way to save space. It is the process for fold t-shirts and shirts more efficiently and that they take up less space is the following:
- To start, place the shirt on a flat surface.
- Lay out the shirt completely, making sure it is well aligned and without wrinkles.
- Fold one side of the shirt towards the centermaking sure the edge is aligned with the center of the shirt.
- Then fold the sleeve of the shirt inwardscreating a straight line from the shoulder to the bottom hem.
- Repeat the same process with the left side of the shirtfolding towards the center and then folding the sleeve inward.
- Fold the bottom of the shirt up, creating a compact rectangle.
- Fold the shirt into thirdsstarting from the bottom and then folding the top down.
This Marie Kondo t-shirt folding method helps keep clothes organized in drawers, facilitating visualization and access to each of them, and also maximizes storage space. Plus, when folded this way, t-shirts stay neater and are less likely to wrinkle.
