The ideal time for you to take a nap if you want it to have a good impact on both your mood and performance.
One of the typical pleasures of Spain, and which has even crossed borders, is the typical siesta, a way we have to get rid of that accumulated fatigue in the morning, to catch up on sleep at night or directly to spend that spare time.
Be that as it may, there are people who throw the snap a few minutes, and there are others who are sleeping hours in the afternoon, and although the perfect nap can only be found by each person, the truth is that both NASA and different medical schools tell us what the perfect nap should be like.
The POT has the nap as one of the main tools for its astronauts, but as long as they don’t go overboard with it.
Specifically, NASA said back in 1995, that the perfect nap would be 26 minutesand that thanks to it performance would be improved by 34% and alertness by 54%. So said Mark Rosekind, who led NASA’s Fatigue Countermeasures Program until 1997.
What other organizations and experts think
But not only does NASA recommend what the perfect nap would be, but the Harvard Medical School and the Mayo Clinicestablished that the nap should last between 20 and 30 minutesbecause otherwise it can end up causing drowsiness.
On the other hand, US air traffic controllers were recommended to take 26-minute naps, after verifying that different workers fell asleep at their jobs.
In this way, the different experts and organizations seem to agree that the nap should last a minimum of 20 minutes and a maximum of 30 minutes.
That does not mean that you cannot take a longer nap, and it is that each person is different, but the important thing is that the nap should never affect our sleep at night.
