Judge Santiago Pedraz of the National Court has ordered the blocking of the Telegram messaging platform in Spain. This is a precautionary measure in response to a complaint from Mediaset, related to sharing “content without permission” on the platform.
At the time of writing this article, Telegram continues to operate in Spanish territory through the main operators, however, it will be these telecommunications companies that will be in charge of blocking the platform in the country, according to the judge’s request.
Telegram must be blocked in Spain in a maximum of two days
Mediaset España, EGEDA, A3 Media and Movistar Plus have denounced Telegram for, according to the accusation, allowing the hosting without permission of content protected by copyright owned by these chains.
The judge of the National Court has decided to take a precautionary measure after not receiving the information that he had requested from the company responsible for Telegram.
