The new iPad 10 has finally swapped its 2010s look for a more modern design. Colorful, without a home button, with a USB-C port and a 10.9-inch edge-to-edge display, the entry-level iPad bears a strong resemblance to the iPad Air 5. Even the price comes to play spoilsport with an iPad 2022 which now starts at 589 euros, against 389 euros for its predecessor. A high perched price that rubs shoulders with the 789 euros of the iPad Air 5 (sold until yesterday for 699 euros). But how do the two tablets ultimately compare?
Comparison between iPad Air 5 and iPad 10
screen
The main argument of the iPad obviously concerns its large screen. If the iPad Air 5 and the iPad 10 display the same diagonal, on the other hand the cheapest iPad has skipped several characteristics. The new iPad 10 display lacks the anti-reflective coating, and it only supports sRGB colors, not the industry wide color P3 standard.
However, on its website, Apple indicates that the new entry-level iPad has the same screen Liquid Retina than the fifth-generation iPad Air, with a resolution of 2360 x 1640 at 264 ppi (pixels per inch). It is on the other hand True Tone in both cases, adapting the colors to your environment.

The processor
On the power side, the difference will not necessarily be very large depending on your use, but the M1 chip of the iPad Air 5 is still more advanced. For video processing, games and other intensive calculations, the M1 chip will be more efficient. Not to mention that it provides access to specific features of the iPadOS system such as Stage Manager.

Compatibility
The new entry-level iPad also doesn’t support the second-generation Apple Pencil, thus sticking to the first-generation Apple Pencil. And since it doesn’t have a reverse wireless charging mechanism, it can’t charge the stylus by resting it on it. Instead, a cable should be used. But the iPad 10 has a USB-C port, which requires customers to use an Apple Pencil to USB-C adapter. A pettiness at 10 euros on the Apple site.
Conclusion
The comparison stops there, because the rest is identical. The 12-megapixel rear camera, WiFi 6, 5G option, 10-hour battery life, dual speakers, Touch ID button on the side, USB-C port and others are strictly the same on both shelves.
So now you just have to choose between the two, depending on your needs and your budget.
