If there is a new generation console that is relatively easy to find in stock, it is the Xbox Series S. It also sees its price melt again at the end of summer, going from 299 euros to only 269 euros on some online stores.
It’s admittedly the cheapest next-gen console on the market, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have one under the hood, especially after the recent updates. In addition to its ultra-compact format and dead quiet in operation, it is certainly the best compromise for playing the latest games in excellent conditions while being at an affordable price, and all the more so with a promotion. .

A small format that has everything to please
The Xbox Series S is a light version of Microsoft’s next-gen, first by its much more compact design than its sidekick and dressed in a white dress. It still has an imposing fan placed above the hull, but which fortunately makes minimal noise in operation. It can be placed vertically or horizontally, which makes it easy to integrate into a living room or bedroom. There is no optical drive on this Series S which relies heavily on dematerialized technology, particularly in the context of use centered on the Xbox Game Pass.
The new controller is a good evolution of the previous formula with some welcome additions like the button Share for sharing captures, the triggers equipped with additional vibration motors or the grainy coating on the very ergonomic handles once in hand.
Small, but mighty
Inevitably, compromises had to be made on the power side, but the Xbox Series S does not undermine its status as a next-gen console. It has the same hardware architecture, namely an AMD Zen2 processor and a graphics part provided by an AMD RDNA2 chipset. Both operate at lower framerates, but are capable of delivering gaming at up to 120 FPS at a lower native resolution. The console is therefore particularly suitable for people with a Full HD screen or a 1440P monitor. On the other hand, we find the same NVMe SSD module in the 512 GB version for ultra-fast loading and almost instantaneous game launch thanks to the famous function Quick Resume.
