Bang & Olufsen’s new Beoplay EX headphones take advantage of the best for true wireless models: wireless charging, multipoint Bluetooth, aptX Adaptive, Google Fast Pair, active noise reduction and IP57 waterproofing.
Bang & Olufsen is not a completely new brand in the wireless headphones market, far from it. The Danish manufacturer has already launched several references such as Beoplay EQ or Beoplay E8. Nevertheless, these are even more successful headphones that were presented this Tuesday by the audiophile brand, the Bang & Olufsen Beoplay EX.
According to the manufacturer, these are its wireless headphones “the most versatile to date”. To support its statements, Bang & Olufsen announces a “unparalleled sound quality” and an “impressive active noise reduction”. On the design side, unlike the brand’s previous models, the Beoplay EX offer a format with stems, similar to what is found on Apple’s AirPods. The headphones are also equipped with in-ear tips to provide passive isolation in addition to active noise reduction. Four sizes of tips are thus delivered with the headphones. Still on the design side, the Beoplay EX weigh 6 grams per earpiece while the 66.2 x 48 x 22.1 mm case weighs 53 grams on the scale without the earphones. The headphones are also IP57 certified and can therefore be submerged in shallow water in addition to resistance to dust, perspiration or rain.
aptX Adaptive, multipoint Bluetooth, noise reduction and wireless charging
For sound performance, the Beoplay EX rely on 9.2 mm diameter transducers capable of reproducing sound frequencies from 20 to 20,000 Hz. The headphones are also compatible with Bluetooth in version 5.2 and with codecs SBC, AAC and aptX Adaptive. Multipoint Bluetooth is also included to connect the headphones to two sources at the same time, as is Google Fast Pair. For active noise reduction, Bang & Olufsen offers an adaptive noise reduction function which will allow you to automatically manage the level of noise reduction according to the sounds around you. A transparent mode is also present to allow you to stay tuned to your environment.

Active noise reduction is also offered during voice calls, in addition to MEMs microphones which will filter ambient noise in order to focus on your voice to be heard by your interlocutor.
For the battery, Bang & Olufsen has integrated 70 mAh accumulators in each earphone and a 380 mAh battery in the case. Enough to ensure a total autonomy of 28 hours with the charging case and 8 hours for the headphones alone, without noise reduction. With the noise reduction, the autonomy then increases to 6 hours. Note also that the charging case is compatible with Qi wireless charging by induction.
The Bang & Olufsen Beoplay EX headphones will be available in four colors: black, equipped and gray and blue. They will be available in black from April 28, in gold from May 19 and in blue and gray from June 6. The headphones will be launched in Europe at a price of 399 euros.
