The next version of tvOS will clean up the stock of applications that clutter the Apple TV home screen. Two of them will in fact disappear, in favor of the TV application alone.
It will soon be time to mourn the loss of two apps pre-installed in the Apple TV. iTunes Movies and iTunes TV Shows, two relics from the past, will indeed bow out with the final version of tvOS 17.2. These applications allow you to buy (or rent) films and TV series respectively. They will be replaced by the TV app store, with which they have duplicated for years. The shop offers the same functions grouped in a single tab.

Cleaning up the Apple TV home screen
This disappearance, announced by a rumor last October, is not really one: at present, with the latest beta of tvOS 17.2, the icons of these applications are still present on the home screen of the 'Apple TV. They simply display an explanation panel with links to the TV store.
The user will be able to delete them “by hand”, unless Apple takes care of this through a future tvOS update. At the same time, the TV application has a new interface displaying a vertical panel showing the sections of the current version, and which also includes the channels and apps to which the user is subscribed.
