The double-decker seats that are going to surprise and that could be the protagonists of your next long-haul plane trip.
Air travel is quite efficient if we want to go from one country to another, but unfortunately, the space we have to stretch our legs is practically non-existent, and it can even cause health problems.
There have been many engineers in recent years who have devised different seats for plane which can make our long-distance journeys much more comfortable.
And now a 23-year-old has designed a seat double-decker plane with great space for our legs.
We talk about the engineer Alejandro Nunez Vicente from Madrid, who wants to improve long-distance travel with his new economic seat chaise longue.
Airline seats of the future?
thanks to these seating it will be possible to fully stretch out the legs, even lying down at an angle of 125° without disturbing the person behind.
“On the one hand, the lower row is perfect for people with reduced mobility or to rest on long flights“, it states.
“The seat panel is completely concealed in the structure to facilitate entry and exit, and the backrest reaches an angle of 125 degrees (15 degrees more than the current economy class). Most importantly, passengers can fully straighten their legs and support them, similar to a lying position.”, he clarifies.
“On the other hand, to access the upper row you will have to climb two steps. With the same 125-degree recline angle, this row gives passengers better legroom and more privacy”, they add.
“For all those who think that ‘I work for the airline industry’ or that ‘I just want to make your economy experience worse to accommodate more people’, I can only say that my goal as a designer is to improve economy for all those travelers who they cannot afford more expensive tickets”, Alejandro Núñez himself points out.
In this way, we could be facing the seats of the future, in addition to being cheap, which would be inside those large planes designed to travel long distances in flight.
