Spring is coming, the prelude to summer, a time in which good weather will be the dominant tone and which invites us to take part of our lives outside. What to say if at home you have a good terrace or a garden or a generous space in which place (and use) an oven or barbecue.
These elements are often the ideal companion for outdoor use and where you can prepare good grills before sharing with family and friends. And this invention that comes from Finland wants to give a twist by offering a system that does not need electricity or coal to operate.
To cook without electricity
If we are used to the fact that when preparing food, we have to use a device that connects to a socket, or use fuels such as firewood or charcoal, this invention that comes from northern Europe, dispenses with them and bet on solar energy.
It is a solar oven that allows you to bake up to 110 kg of bread per day at high temperatures. With the name of Lytefire The invention in question becomes like a kind of large, solar panel that is connected to an oven. A system that allows you to prepare bread, pizzas, cakes, tarts, quiches…
What it does is transform the sun’s rays into heat, and thus be able to cook without having to use electricity and other fuels. To achieve the appropriate temperature, the panel uses curved mirrors so that the sun’s rays are focused on a point that serves to concentrate all the captured sunlight.
This system allows you to achieve a temperature of up to 300ºC, thanks among other things to the fact that the point at which the heat is concentrated can reach 900ºC. With these values this invention can produce 3,500 watts of thermal energy.
All the heat generated passes directly to a kind of box that distributes heat evenly and thus function as an oven, a hob, a roasting drum or a food dryer.
Of course, in the basic model wheels are used and as they warn on the website, this model does not have automatic tracking so you have to rotate the Lytefire Pro slightly every 10 minutes to follow the sun and keep it working. They also warn that it requires a flat, sunny space of at least 7 meters in diameter to operate without shade.
This device is designed above all for small businesses who want to bet on a sustainable business model and reduce their energy bill. The company states that it has a useful life of 16 years and to take care of it you only need soap and water to clean the mirrors.
