Although we have 6G connectivity taking its first steps, it still seems far away. And more seeing how the deployment of 5G continues to be the main challenge for operators. As far as Vodafone is concerned, they have just announced how will your 5G deployment be in this 2023.
The teleco pretends bring its 5G to 65% of the Spanish population. Thus, they have announced that they will add coverage to 1,000 new municipalities that will make up a total of 2,000 municipalities.
This is how Vodafone will distribute its 5G to 1,000 new municipalities
With this new announcement, Vodafone intends to continue expanding its 5G coverage with frequencies of 700 MHz and 3,700 MHz. By the end of the year they claim to have covered 2,000 municipalities in total with this connectivity, which will mean adding 1,000 new ones that are distributed as follows:
- Catalonia: 301 municipalities highlighting Argentona, Cornellá de Llobregat, La Seu d’Urgell, Caldes de Malavella and Puigcerdà.
- Castile and Leon: 231 municipalities highlighting Zamora, Arévalo, Toro, Ponferrada, La Alberca and Boñar.
- Castilla la Mancha: 176 municipalities highlighting Puertollano, Azuqueca de Henares, Casas-Ibañez, Caudete, Belinchón, Lagartera and Iniesta.
- Andalusia: 170 municipalities highlighting Estepa, Ubrique, San Juan del Puerto, Palos de la Frontera, Lucena, Antequera and Alcalá de Guadaira.
- Galicia: 138 municipalities highlighting Villagarcía de Arousa, Arteixo, Ribeira, Mondariz, Fisterra and Guitiriz.
- Valencian Community: 109 municipalities highlighting Villena, Buñol, L’Alcora, La Yesa, Requena and La Pobla de Farnals.
- Basque Country: 105 municipalities highlighting Hondarribia, Mondragón, Portugalete, Labastidia and Zamudio.
- Madrid’s community: 75 municipalities highlighting Pozuelo de Alarcón, Cercedilla, Griñón and Alpedrete.
- Aragon: 74 municipalities highlighting Fraga, Ejea de los Caballeros, Cucalón, Peñalba, Castiello de Jaca and Chía.
- Estremadura: 49 municipalities highlighting Navalmoral de la Mata, Villanueva de la Serena, Almendralejo, Baños de Montemayor, Ceclavín and Lobón.
- Cantabria: 44 municipalities highlighting Camargo, Potes, Comillas and Suances.
- Asturias: 42 municipalities highlighting Langreo, Grado, Mieres and Noreña.
- Canary Islands: 49 municipalities highlighting Teror, Haría, Puerto del Rosario and Candelaria.
- Balearic Islands: 38 municipalities, highlighting Mahón, Andratx, Sóller and Ferrerías.
- Navarre: 36 municipalities highlighting Cintruénigo, Estella, Puente la Reina, Olite and Cizur.
- The Rioja: 34 municipalities highlighting Santo Domingo de la Calzada, Arnedo, Ojacastro, Torecilla in Cameros and Tormantos.
- Region of Murcia: 28 municipalities highlighting Pliego, Bullas, Beniel and Cehegín.
It should be said that among those localities, 238 municipalities with less than 1,000 inhabitants stand out. This, as explained by Vodafone Spain’s network director, Julia Velasco, responds to the objective of bridge the digital divide that the operator is marked in our country.
