If there is something that has taken its toll on me over time on the iPhones that I have had for more than a decade using and charging Apple phones, that is the deterioration of the battery, a reality that cannot be escaped. no phone (whether iPhone or not), but with iPhone I used to mitigate with the blessed low power mode.
This option is available within the settings, in the ‘Battery’ section, and we can activate it whenever we want and even create a routine to activate automatically. But as you probably already know, once you put it on charge and the battery exceeds 80%, then we will again go from low consumption mode to normal. The problem is that if you have an old iPhone and/or with a very damaged battery, sooner rather than later you will want to return to that saving mode. It has happened to me with an iPhone that I have given a lot of effort to and I have a trick: set low power mode to always be on.
Likewise, it can be useful for when we are traveling and we are going to need the phone with battery for as long as possible and we do not have a charger or power bank or we simply do not know if we will be able to charge it. Likewise, if you are roaming data in a foreign country and want to minimize data consumption, with this mode you will prevent apps from updating in the background.
How to always have low power mode activated
The shortcuts They are an iOS application that simplifies the process of carrying out various actions on an iPhone, automating them so that they can be executed much faster. Although you can do real tricks, I admit that I only use some basic and simple ones like this one that essentially creates a shortcut to keep your iPhone in low power mode all the time.
Doing it is very simple: you just have to open the Shortcuts application and tap on the ‘+‘ in the upper right corner. Once inside, we click ‘Add action‘ and here it is possible to either search in ‘All actions’ or, much faster and easier, search for ‘low consumption’ in the search box. Once located, we click on it to add it and make sure that the word that appears in blue is ‘Activate‘. Then you just have to rename it with something that helps us identify it, such as ‘Permanent low consumption mode’ and tap on ‘Okay‘ to save the changes.
When finished, it will appear on the main iPhone shortcuts screen and you will only have to touch it to activate that mode, which means that your iPhone will always be in low power mode, even if it is above 80%, charging or even restart it. Do you want to remove low power mode? Well, you can always go to the Control Center and deactivate it manually.
