This is demonstrated by the list of main operators in the fixed and mobile telephony markets that the CNMC has just published in the BOE. For yet another year, this list, which brings together those with the five largest shares in both markets, once again places Telefónica, Vodafone, Orange and Másmóvil in the top four positions.
Telefónica, leader in fixed and mobile
Every year, the CNMC publishes the list of main operators in the telecommunications markets to comply with the obligations and limitations contained in RD-Law 6/2000. These main operators are, basically, those that hold the five largest market shares reference: fixed telephony and mobile telephony.
In the last list, when defining the market share of these operators, the CNMC has used the criterion of number of subscriber lines corresponding to fixed and mobile telephone services, and has taken into account the data corresponding to the global year of 2021, a year in which portability has favored the MásMóvil Group and DIGI.
Fees have also been added for different operators of the same business group (taking into account the different operations of acquisition, concentration, merger, etc.) and the national markets of both services have been taken as a reference. However, the updated list is as follows:
According to the data available from the CNMC, the line shares of the main operators in the national fixed telephony market are as follows: Telefónica, with 42.7%, Vodafone ONO, with 20%; Orange, with 19.9%; MásMóvil, with 13.7%; and Colt with 1%.
In the case of mobile telephony, the line fees of the main operators are as follows: Telefónica Móviles, with 28.1%; Orange, with 22.6%; Vodafone, with 22%; MásMóvil, with 20.1%; and Digi Spain, with 5.6%.
