As we spend more and more time with our Xiaomi, its performance tends to go less and lessand one of the many reasons for this is storage space.
Our mobile performance management habits shouldn’t stop at deleting photos and videos or uninstalling applications that we no longer use, and that’s why we bring you Five tips to improve the performance of your Xiaomi so it works like it just came out of the box.
1. Clear app cache
Although deleting that app you installed two months ago and only used once is a good idea, the best thing to do is clear rest cache. This is data accumulated by each app that can be deleted without losing anything.
To do this, you must go to ‘Settings’ > ‘Applications’ > ‘Manage applications’ and click on any app. Below will appear ‘Clean data’ with the icon of an eraser, press it and hit ‘Clear cache’.
Make this simple gesture every one or two weeks with the applications that we usually use the most, it will save us a lot of space, and in addition will greatly improve overall performance of our Xiaomi.
2. Check which apps run by themselves
In the same way that we can control which programs are turned on with Windows when we start our computer, all Xiaomi mobiles also have a ‘Task Manager’ where to check the applications that decide to start next to the mobile when turning it on.
To do this, you can go to ‘Settings’ > ‘Security’ > ‘Autostart’ and check if you have any app with permissions to start automatically, and disable it if so. When you restart the phone, it should run smoother without needing to open multiple apps.
3. Reduce the graphic load to a minimum
Just like a PC needs a graphics card so you can play Cyberpunk 2077 or Elden Ring, your phone has one so you can see all those animations when you swipe TikToks or scroll through Instagram.
It is possible to disable these animationsand it is done from ‘Settings’ > ‘Additional settings’ > ‘Accessibility’ and in the vision section, select ‘Remove animations’.
Once deactivated, although your Xiaomi will look somewhat less modern, the truth is that you will notice a much higher performanceespecially if it is a low-end company like the Redmi 9A or one that is several years old.
4. Use light versions of your favorite apps
Xiaomi is one of the forerunners of cheaper mobiles, which generally have less power and storage. Because of this, some developers have created versions of their apps that take up much less space and consume fewer resourcesthus improving the performance of your Xiaomi.
Facebook, LinkedIn, Skype and even Messenger are some apps that have ‘Lite’ versions to save space. You can search for them in the Google Play Store, and we recommend that you download them and delete their ‘complete’ homonyms to improve the lifespan of your Xiaomi.
5. And if nothing works…
If none of the above seems to improve the speed of your Xiaomi, which is crying out for you to go to any store for another newer model, you can try the unorthodox method: a factory reset.
Please note that this option erase absolutely all the data on your device, returning it to its original state, as if you had just bought it. We recommend that make a backup with all your data in the cloud before even considering this process. We have an exclusive tutorial guiding you through it:
