In its latest update available on the App Store, the Tidal service has added support for Siri, which means that iPhone and iPad users can now ask Apple’s virtual assistant to read the music streaming service content. As for Spotify for example, we can finally ask “Hey Siri, read The Weekend on Tidal” for example.
TIDAL is finally switching to Siri
The service created in Sweden by Aspiro in 2014 then partly bought by Jay-Z in 2015 therefore adds an expected feature that allows you to enjoy a HiFi catalog oriented hip-hop by voice thanks to Siri. On the other hand, this good news is to be tempered because the support only concerns the iPhone and the iPad (and CarPlay by extension), the HomePod and HomePod mini being left aside for the moment. That means Tidal users still can’t take advantage of HomePod voice commands to navigate their songs and playlists. You can use Tidal on the speaker, but “by hand”.

Tidal is therefore in the same situation as Spotify, which is still in the midst of a legal battle with Apple. If you’re looking for a fully functional streaming service with Siri, you have Apple Music, Deezer and Pandora (USA) to choose from, as well as radio services like iHeartRadio and TuneIn.
For the record, Tidal offered Lossless quality directly in FLAC format and is available on iPhone, iPad, CarPlay and Apple TV with Dolby Atmos sound. Some artists post exclusively on this service.
