We have compiled a selection of the most notable features that have been presented during the iPhone presentation event.
Apple has revealed a host of new products at its “Far, Farther” event in September. The signature of the bitten apple logo has presented an iPhone 14, an iPhone 14 Plus, an iPhone 14 Pro and an iPhone 14 Pro Max.
Apple smartphones have taken center stage at the event, but three smartwatch models have also been presented with the Apple Watch Series 8, the Apple Watch SE and the Apple Watch Ultra. Finally, the Cupertino firm has introduced the second generation of AirPods Pro to the market.
As expected, the September special event has been full of all kinds of hardware news, so to clear up a bit of so many technical specifications and other features we have decided to select a top 10 with the best software features of all the new devices presented today. Shall we start?
Here are the best software features showcased at Apple’s “Far, Farther” event
10. Autofocus (iPhone 14)
Normally the autofocus functionality of the camera would not be present in any top 10 of features, since this feature has been present in the rear camera of the Apple iPhone for many years.
But it’s about the first time ever that the feature has been implemented in the TrueDepth Camera front of an iPhone. The front camera of the iPhone 14 models finally has autofocus, a function that allows you to automatically detect and focus on the subjects present in the images.
9. Night mode (Apple Watch Ultra)
Software built into watchOS 9 enables the massive Apple Watch Ultra to feature Night Mode.
In low light conditions, Apple Watch Ultra users will have the ability to rotate the Digital Crown to activate Night Mode so that your screen offers vivid shades of red.
8. Oceanic+ (Apple Watch Ultra)
During the event, Apple has presented a new application for iPhone called Oceanic +. This curious app provides very valuable information for athletes who swim and dive in the sea like decompression limits, safety stops, monitoring parameters, depth calculations, water temperatures, currents and tides.
The app has maps interactive and all kinds of functions to improve the user experience during diving. And it is that the event that Apple has directed today has been full of news especially dedicated to professional athletes and extreme sports athletes in order to promote their Apple Watch Ultra.
7. Custom Spatial Audio (AirPods Pro 2)
Spatial Audio was introduced in 2021 and allows users of multiple AirPods models to generate a much more immersive and enveloping sound environment by making each earphone behave individually.
And now, with the second generation of AirPods Pro, Spatial Audio will be totally personalized for each user. A function that, without a doubt, will be very useful.
6. Action Mode (iPhone 14)
The use of stabilizers is over, with the arrival of the Action Mode function on the iPhone 14, users will be able to enjoy stable filming with hardly any strange movements even in the worst conditions.
Action Mode uses the smartphone’s sensors to stabilize video image. And the best news is that Action Mode will be available on all models: iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
5. Touch Control (AirPods Pro 2)
One of the functions that we liked the most during the presentation of the second generation of the AirPods Pro was Touch Control. Although it is true that it is a very simple function, it is also true that it will be one of the most efficient functions of the wireless headphones of the company with the bitten apple logo.
With Touch Control it will be enough to gently slide your finger on the pin of the AirPods Pro 2 headphones to control audio playback and volume. Isn’t that great?
4. Crash Detection (Apple Watch and iPhone 14)
As we get closer to the top 1 of this selection the features start to get more and more impressive. Crash Detection is a functionality present in the new Apple Watch and iPhone 14 that is capable of detect a car accident and call the emergency services.
3. SOS Emergencies via Satellite (iPhone 14)
And speaking of emergencies… Apple has multiplied its efforts to continue saving lives with its devices with the arrival of SOS emergencies via Satellite on iPhone 14.
Starting now, iPhone 14 users will have the ability to make emergency SOS calls even when you don’t have a Wi-Fi or mobile data connection by sending the data directly to the satellites.
2. Always On Display (iPhone 14)
We continue with another of the most spectacular performances of the night. Always On Display has finally arrived on the iPhone.
Previously it was already available on Apple Watch, but now with the arrival on the market of the new iPhone 14 models, users will be able to choose have the screen always on still locked. A utility that allows you to be more aware of notifications and enjoy a much more spectacular visual aspect when the iPhone screen is locked.
1. Live Activities on Dynamic Island (iPhone 14)
There is no doubt that the feature that has won the cake during Apple’s “Far, Farther” event has been Live Activities. This function is intrinsically related to the Dynamic Islandthe new type of “notch” of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
As many readers will already know, the two new Pro models of the signature of the bitten apple logo have a small hole in the screen to make way for a frame that houses the front camera and hardware components required for Face ID facial recognition.
Well, this small frame called Dynamic Island (Dynamic Island) has touch functions called Live Activities and they show us recent activities such as calls, music albums, FaceTime controls, Messages audio playback, notifications and much more. It is a perfect fusion between hardware and software that has amazed everyone.
These have been the functions presented at Apple’s September event that have caught our attention the most. But there have been so many presentations that surely you have liked many more. In that case we would love for you to share it with us.
