Microblogging site Twitter has taken action and removed the controversial tweet of Leena Manimalai on July 2. Responding to Twitter’s action, Leena in a tweet asked whether the social media platform would also block posts from ‘haters’ . “It’s fun,” he wrote. Will @TwitterIndia block 200000 hate tweets?! These low life trolls have tweeted and circulated the same poster which they find objectionable.
However, it is not clear when Twitter actually deleted the tweet. That tweet has been replaced by a message from Twitter. It said that in response to a legal demand, @LeenaManimekli’s tweet has been blocked in India. Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra has been booked for hurting religious sentiments. Controversy has arisen regarding his comment on Goddess Kali. A case has been registered against Moitra in Bhopal for hurting religious sentiments under Section 295A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Twitter India, on the other hand, has also filed an appeal in the Karnataka High Court against certain orders of the Central Government. . The company has demanded the withdrawal of some government orders regarding the content.
