It was a matter of time, after the presentation of the new M2 chips that Apple released with the recently launched MacBook Pro M2 and the MacBook Air M2 that will arrive in stores in the coming days. It seems that the company already has its sights set on the future of its new chip, and plans to update the entire line of Macs with the new processor.
At least that is what Mark Gurman points out in his Newsletter of Power Onstating that the company is working on at least 5 new Macs with M2 processor, including its variants for professionals. Although the details are scarce regarding the launch windows, everything indicates that we will see these new teams at some point between the next few months and the first quarter of next year.
In total, it would be a complete update of the equipment that is currently on sale with the M1 minus one, and as we say, would include some variations with Apple’s professional chipsalso in equipment where until now the option was only available with the M1.
The Mac Pro with M2 would arrive in this renewal cycle
According to Gurman, the next updated Macs we’ll see include a Mac mini M2, adding a variant of it with an M2 Pro and two new 14″ and 16″ MacBook Pros updated to the M2 Pro and M2 Max. And how could it be otherwise, the long-awaited Mac Pro that would make the leap with an M2 Ultra and a new M2 Extreme.
Keep in mind that Apple confirmed a Mac Pro with an M chip, but so far has not returned to give news of him. Nor in the conference focused on its most important audience, the WWDC, so it is logical to think that the team will arrive with the new chips and their most powerful variations.
Mark Gurman points to the rumored Mac Pro with M2 Ultra and M2 Extreme chips will come in this cycle of renewals, but does not give a specific date of when it will be presented. And most importantly, when will it go on sale?
Another issue to keep in mind is that there is no mention anywhere of updating the iMac to the M1 chip, and according to Gurman, Apple’s all-in-one would make the jump directly to the M3.
