Here is our selection of 43 inch TVs, if they are not very numerous there are still some interesting options for lovers of small televisions!
The best 43-inch 4K TVs at a glance
For the design
- Like a painting with an “art” mode
- A correct image
- Tyzen convenient to use
If the standard is now 55 and 65 inch televisions, we do not always have the place to accommodate one in his living room. You may also prefer smaller screens for a secondary television. More simply, one can look for something discreet, which does not swear with its interior with the cleverly worked decoration.
Still, the 43-inch is now the poor relation of the TV ranges, even being almost completely ignored for the high-end. Thus no OLED screen of this size exists, nor for the latest generation QLEDs. If you are looking for the best technologies, you will have to switch to the above format.
We have therefore selected here the few models that caught our attention. If you want a much wider choice, we really recommend that you read our comparison of the best 48 inch 4K TVs.
If you are looking for a bigger size, you can also consult our guides dedicated to other diagonals:
We also have guides by technology:
Or our “Hall of Fame”:
However, there are televisions that offer quite decent quality for this diagonal, we have selected the best in several price brackets.
Samsung QE43LS03A (The Frame 2021) For the design
- Like a painting with an “art” mode
- A correct image
- Tyzen convenient to use
Available at 795 € on Amazon
Sold under the 1000 euros mark, the Samsung The Frame QLED 2021 is one of the few models that is a little ambitious in this diagonal. We find once again the very particular design, thought to look like a painting. You can even add different types of wooden frames to complete the illusion.
Add to that the art mode which can display works of art and you have certainly the most discreet TV on the market. If it is initially thought to be hung on the wall, it remains delivered with feet to put it on a piece of furniture. Note that it comes with the One Connect box which allows the connection of the television to be deported.
From a purely technical point of view, we are dealing with a mid-range QLED panel. The image is therefore bright, but the contrast is fairly average and the colors less faithful than on the brand’s more recent models.
If it is HDMI 2.1 compatible, this TV remains confined to 60 Hz, so it is not ideal for avid gamers. Side voice assistants, compatibility is ensured with Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa and Bixby.
The design does come at a cost, however, since technically identical to the Q60T, Samsung asks you to pay around 900 euros, but you have the wall mount and the One Connect box in the box.
Xiaomi Mi TV P1 43 For small budgets
- The floor price
- Android TV
- A neat look
Available at € 369 on Fnac
Do you have a very small budget? As often it is at Xiaomi that the good deal is to be found. Recently present in the world of TV, the Chinese manufacturer distributes a few models in France.
Despite its low price, the latter offers a surprisingly neat design and thin edges. We have seen more neat finishes, but nothing to be ashamed of. This 43-inch version of the P1 has an IPS panel, while its 55-inch big sister has a VA panel. In practice, this means that the viewing angles are excellent, but that the contrast is not glorious.
Xiaomi’s rendering processor, however, does a very decent job in terms of scaling non-4K content. We also appreciate the presence of Android TV, which works smoothly, which is not still the case on entry-level models.
Among our regrets, we note that the support for HDMI 2.1 is more theoretical than anything else since the VRR is absent. We just owe it to the eARC.
If it does not come to mark the annals, this Mi TV P1 offers correct services for a very small price. That’s all we ask of her and she does it well.
Sony KD-43X85J Compact and versatile
- Good at film and gaming
- An excellent response rate
- The contrast of the panel
Available at € 899 on Fnac
The Japanese manufacturer Sony is still an important name in the television market. If you are looking for a 43-inch model, check out the model that we are about to unveil to you.
A word first on the construction of the 43 inch television. Like its Xiaomi counterpart, the thin edges and finish allow it to be placed anywhere in your home. The Sony KD-43X85J LCD panel offers good quality brightness and above all an excellent contrast ratio for its situation. The image quality in 4K with LED backlighting offers great benefits.
All these technical characteristics provide versatility at all times around this 43 inch TV. This is also good for use in gaming, in movies or in standard use.
In terms of connectivity, the presence of HDMI 2.1 is eARC compatible. You will have 4 HDMI ports, 2 USB ports, but no VRR.
We also regret the poor performance of the television in terms of viewing angles. It is better to look at this one head-on.
Everything you need to know before buying a 43-inch television
Why a 43 inch TV?
43 inches is obviously a small diagonal size when looking at the most popular TVs of 2022 which offer screen diagonals of 55 and 65 inches. The 43-inch format is still interesting for equipping a bedroom or a kitchen, or a small living room. More discreet than a 55-inch TV, it will be able to blend in with the surroundings much more easily.
When choosing the size of your television, a tip that usually works very well is the “4.5 centimeters per inch ruler“. This indicates the minimum distance between you and the TV. For example on a 43 inch (4K) TV, you have to be about 1.80 meters away from the screen. The closer you will tire your eyes quickly, and the further you will lose your immersion ability. But at this distance, you will have a good immersion in all the action of movies and video games. Either way, this is only an approximation and ideally each user should determine how far away they feel most comfortable. On 4K UHD televisions, the definition is so high that it doesn’t really impose any restrictions, unless you get a few inches from the screen …
Where are the 43 inch OLED TVs?
No pun intended, small TVs are now a niche. In 2020, the average TV measured 55 inches and the 65 inches looks set to become the new standard in 2022.
The production capacities of OLED panels are currently limited and manufacturers are concentrating them on the largest dimensions. The smallest OLED available is the 48-inch LG C1.
