The TOP 3 of the best 75-inch TVs
Top of the top
9 /10
- A design designed to be fixed to the wall
- The blacks of OLED
- Perfect for gaming
If there’s one constant in the tech world, it’s that things are always getting bigger, and TVs are no exception. Once reserved for the wealthy, 75-inch televisions are now affordable enough for ordinary mortals to consider buying them. Be careful all the same, certain technologies such as OLED see their prices explode without it being proportionate to the additional inches. An LG G1 will cost you three times more in 77 inches than in 55!
Their great advantage is their diagonal of 190 cm, which begins to titillate that of a video projector while retaining advantages of ease of use. With such a format, however, it will often be necessary to think of its interior according to its TV. Check well before buying if the screen will not be too big, especially if you have an existing TV cabinet. In general, such a diagonal will ideally be installed on the wall.

LG OLED77G1 Top of the top
9 /10
- A design designed to be fixed to the wall
- The blacks of OLED
- Perfect for gaming
Available at €3,690 on Baker
Yes, we’re cheating a bit, the best TV in this selection measures 77 and not 75 inches. After this slight detail, LG’s flagship once again stands out as the benchmark in the high end. We thus find a minimalist design, designed for installation on the wall. Only a wall fixing is also delivered, to put it on a (very large) piece of furniture it will be necessary to buy feet invoiced 100 euros.
Internally, we find the brand’s very impressive EVO panel. Its main characteristic is a sharp increase in brightness since it increases by 15% to reach 881 cd / m2. Nothing to say about the colorimetry: in “Cinema” mode, the image is simply perfect.
LG is once again taking care of the gaming experience with ultra-low response time and full HDMI 2.1 support for modern consoles. PC gamers will appreciate that GSync and Freesync are on board.
If you can afford it, then you have one of the best televisions on the market.
Samsung QE75QN95A (QLED 2021) The Mini LED to the rescue
8 /10
- A very good contrast…
- … and excellent luminosity
- Finally a well-calibrated Samsung screen
Available at €3,515 on Rakuten Marketplace
If the OLED dominates remains for us the reference technology, Samsung has not thrown in the towel and is able to compete this year thanks to the Mini LED. This QE75QN95A is the most advanced and therefore the most expensive representative of this type of TV from the Korean. First notable development, the screen is particularly thin (2.5 cm) while the OneConnect box adopts a new, slightly more massive format.
But the mini LED is not just a thinner TV, it is above all a backlighting system made up of several hundred zones which provide very good contrast. And if we must admit that we are not yet at the level of OLED, the progress compared to conventional LEDs is impressive. We notice, however, blooming recurring on certain details such as subtitles. Above all, we are also entitled to a very high brightness, practical if you do not watch TV in complete darkness. The icing on the cake, Samsung has for once calibrated its panel rather well at the factory.
For players, it’s full board: the TV is very responsive, supports HDMI 2.1 and even unofficially Nvidia’s G-Sync for PC players. Among its few flaws, we note a frankly basic remote control given the price, and an anti-reflective filter that sometimes lacks efficiency.
If the mini LED technology does not yet bury the OLED, but we must admit that Samsung delivers here the best LCD TV on the market. We recommend that you read the Samsung QE65QN95A test to get more details.
A 75-inch TV is massive and will stand out no matter where it is installed. Why not play the game to the end by adopting a Samsung The Frame. With its strips that create a real frame, The Frame is displayed like a painting. The TV even has an “art” mode that displays a selection of artwork.
The TV itself supports HDR/HDR10+ and is equipped with a QLED panel. Unlike the QE75QN95A mentioned above, this is an entry-level model with classic LED backlighting. The rendering is correct, but the colors would have benefited from being better calibrated.
The Frame is therefore a separate product, which can appeal to those who assume the fact of having a gigantic screen on the wall.
TCL 75C729 The large format for small budgets
- Good image quality
- HDMI 2.1 and 120Hz
- The price
Available at €1,399 on Fnac
Want a quality 75 inch without emptying your PEL? As often it will be necessary to go to the side of the Chinese manufacturers, in this specific case TCL. Although there is unfortunately no 75-inch version of the very good 65C825, the C728 series is not without interest. Despite an aggressive price, it adopts a neat minimalist design.
But it is on the panel side that the good surprises are to be found, with 120 Hz compatibility coupled with HDMI 2.1 which makes it an ideal choice for gamers. The panel itself offers correct contrast, good brightness and quite acceptable colorimetry. The choice of a VA panel, however, implies fairly low lateral viewing angles, which requires you to be well in front of the screen.
Android TV completes the picture on the software side, with a perfectly fluid system. If it does not compete with the pinnacles of OLED or QLED, this TCL 75C728 offers excellent value for money for those who want a beautiful image with a very large diagonal for a reasonable price. Special mention for gamers, who will appreciate 120 Hz and HDMI 2.1 for their consoles next-gen.
Attention, it is also found under the name 75C729 at certain retailers.
Know everything before choosing your 75-inch TV
75 inch TV: how much distance do I need?
When it comes to televisions, there is a simple rule for calculating the necessary setback: 4.5 cm per inch. For a diagonal of 75 inches, this gives us 337.5 cm. In practice, you can round this up to 3 meters without too much trouble.
How do I estimate the diagonal I need?
By applying the rule of 4.5 cm per inch, you can also quite easily determine the ideal theoretical diagonal for your interior. It is logical: the more distance you have, the more you should opt for a large diagonal. With 1.80 m, opt for 43 inches; with 2.25 m, increase to 50 inches; with 2.50 m, attempt 55 inches, and finally with 3 m or more, soar to 65 inches and beyond. However, beyond these theoretical calculations, in practice we recommend that you aim higher if you have any doubts. Believe us, you get used to a big screen very quickly.
