Could Touch ID come to Apple Watch? A new published patent hints that it is.
In case you don’t remember, around 2017 the first patent had come out that mentioned that the Touch ID would reach the Apple Watch. For many users, this patent had been a bit ‘strange’, since the sensor was housed in the control button of the watch and not on the screen as had been imagined.
Although some time later the iPad Air 2022 had ‘complied’ with this patent of placing the Touch ID on the power button, the technology has not reached the Smartwatch until now, which is the eighth generation. but online another patent begins to circulate which might mention that Touch ID is coming to the Apple Watch.
Touch ID could soon come to Apple Watch, according to patents.
While it is true that this patent is not exclusive to Apple Watch, the Patently website Apple has published images of what a Touch ID would look like on Apple Watch. This document is simply referred to as ‘new touch-sensitive device’, so the new button would come to other devices as well.
An example of an Apple Watch with a biometric detection system and a set of buttons on a 4D sidewall is illustrated below. It is an exploded view of parts of the embodiment of a biometric detection system.
Another interesting fact is that the patent also shows a new type of seal ideal for placing the ID sensor and avoid losing the advantages of smartwatch submersion. In addition, you can also see the ID part, which is much smaller than what happens on the iPad and iPhone.
Of course, as we always say, a patent does not mean that the technology is confirmed for the ninth generation of the device. It could even be said that Apple has plans to add other types of sensors that are more functional than Touch ID. Of course, the only thing left is to wait.
