How to enter recovery mode on a television with Android TV
As I have already mentioned, my television is a TCL 55EP660 with Android TV purchased three years ago, which is perfect for this article. Although the path may differ from one manufacturer to another (but taking a look at the documentation or googling the model on the internet can give us the answer in a couple of minutes), the process to follow is this:
- Turn off your television and unplug it.
- Locate the manual power button. And I say about locate because on my TV it hides just behind the power light, out of sight.
- With the TV unplugged, press the power button and hold it.
- Plug the TV into power while still holding the power button. Normally on my television when you turn it on, the LED goes from off to on with white light. When you keep the button pressed, the white light will flash.
- When you see the Android TV logo, you can release the button. Soon the recovery menu will appear.
What you can do with your television’s recovery mode
The interface is very similar to that of other Android recovery modes and is essentially used to solve problems, run updates, general maintenance and even format the television (although in the latter case there are easier and faster options). We are going to list the main functions and their use:
