In its latest update, YouTube Music has a new interface for its Caster function, which allows you to broadcast songs to other connected devices. Although the whole thing is more pleasing to the eye, we regret the absence of buttons, which are nevertheless very practical.
There are some welcome new features on YouTube Music, like the recent update that finally enabled downloading of songs for offline listening. Then there are others more… intriguing. Since yesterday, Google has been rolling out a new update for its music streaming application. Above all, this brings a brand new interface for its casting function, which allows you to broadcast a song to another connected device.
Previously, the dedicated button caused a pop-up to appear in the middle of the screen, listing devices available in the surrounding area. By clicking on one of them, the application displayed a media player with the album cover, on which it was possible to pause the song at any time. Simple and effective, but obviously not good enough for Google’s liking.

The new interface, for its part, is much less refined. This now appears at the bottom of the screen. At first glance, Google simplifies the process by directly displaying the most used devices in a section Suggested, which avoids spending time finding the desired device. But once it is selected, everything is turned upside down. The previous sober interface has given way to a new, much more comprehensive window.
This continues to show available devices, which can take up a lot of space if you have more than one, while the album cover has been reduced to a small image next to the player. On the controls side, only the volume selector has survived. The button to stop broadcasting has in fact disappeared: you have to click again on your smartphone to go back. Likewise, no more pause button, which means it now takes an extra step to stop the song. Odd.
