Gemini is one of Google’s big bets. Its artificial intelligence is already present in several of its platforms, including the renewed virtual assistant that replaced Assistant. And AI is one of Google’s main ambitions for 2024, which is why it promises to bring it to all of its products, or at least most of them.
Now, the company is working on integrate YouTube Music into the Gemini appto offer a more personalized and intelligent experience when searching for music on this platform, which has become an increasingly attractive alternative, especially for YouTube Premium subscribers. At Android Authority they have managed to test this new feature, revealing how it works.
Gemini artificial intelligence will also integrate YouTube Music
By having YouTube Music on Gemini this will allow the application to do personalized and intelligent searches in the music service. For example, we can tell the application what type of music we want to listen to, depending on our mood and other characteristics. The application will access our YouTube Music history to obtain information about our preferences.
This has been revealed by the first images and tests of the YouTube Music extension in Gemini, shared by @AssembleDebug and Android Authority. In the images we can see YouTube Music available as an extension in the Gemini Android app, which can be activated.
After activating it, the app will ask us for authorization to connect our YouTube Music account with Gemini, in order to access our information, including our playback history, our playlists, and musical preferences and tastes.
Once we complete this process, Gemini will be able to make suggestions and searches based on this information in conjunction with Google’s new AI. In the previous example we can see how they ask Gemini music recommendations based on mood “energetic and lively”, so the system recommends artists, playlists and radio stations related to this request and the user’s preferences.
For now the YouTube Music extension is not available to all Gemini users, but expected to arrive soon, especially considering that the extension seems to work correctly, so the release of a final version should not be too far away. The extension will be available from the “Extensions” page in the Gemini app for Android.
And taking into account that we are just a few days away from Google I/O 2024, Google’s most important developer conference, it is possible that we will learn more about this extension and its availability during this event.
