Samsung has presented the Galaxy XRits first extended reality headset built on Android XR and with Gemini integrated at the system level. It comes with a very practical approach: use your usual applications on a large, virtual and immersive screen, switch between the real and virtual world thanks to color video and control everything with voice, hands and eyes. The objective is clear: compete head to head with the Apple Vision Pro, but with a more contained price.

At the hardware level, the viewer is committed to Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2, Micro‑OLED displays High resolution and a lightweight design with an external battery that improves convenience. Includes head, eye and hand tracking, passthrough in colorsix microphones with noise reduction and support for immersive content. On paper, it's Samsung's most ambitious XR proposal to date.

Android XR, Gemini AI and Google apps: this you can do

The system Android XR allows to open Android apps (Google Maps, YouTube, Google Photos, Chrome, Meet…) in floating windows and native experiences in XR. With Gemini Live The headset picks up what you see and hear, allowing it to respond naturally. For example, you can ask for routes or recommendations in Maps, view information related to YouTube videos, or use Circle to Search drawing a circle with your hand on a real or virtual object. There are also automatic spatialization of photos and videos in Google Photos to give them 3D depth and a first series of experiences developed by Adobe, Fox Sports, the MLB and other companies.

In entertainment, Samsung talks about a screen that offers an experience comparable to that of a personal cinema and viewing functions several games at the same time or chat with Gemini during games for advice. The headset includes a camera for capturing 3D photos and videos and a suite of sensors and cameras for precise tracking in gaming and productivity.
