After the departure of the second generation of the AirTagalthough Apple did not want to call it that, we have seen many changes in their hardware. However, they are not only quality improvements in terms of performance or functions, but also in security.

And Apple doesn't want anyone to use this locator to have people controlled, so that the speaker not only sounds louder, thus trying to make them realize that they have one nearby, but eliminating it will be more complicated than in the previous ones.

Greater security in the AirTag speaker

The AirTag 2 is here and, although on the outside it looks almost the same as the previous model, on the inside Apple has made several interesting changes. As always, it didn't take long until someone took it apart to see what had really changed, and that's where the curious details appear.

At first glance there are no surprises: it maintains the same size, the usual circular design and continues to use the CR2032 button battery (despite the fact that they changed the battery brand). It works the same on a day-to-day basis, integrated with the Search app and designed to locate keys, backpacks or any object that tends to get lost. But when you open it, you can see that Apple has fine-tuned some things.

The internal board is now thinner and arranged a little differently, something that likely has to do with improvements in manufacturing and internal space. The most obvious change is in the speaker: it is larger and more powerfulwhich fits with what Apple promised, that the sound is much louder so that finding a lost AirTag is easier.

However, what has attracted the most attention is not only that it sounds louder, but now the speaker is much more difficult to remove. On the first AirTag, some users found that the magnet could be removed from the speaker relatively easily, leaving the device virtually silent. In this new model, Apple has used more adhesive and reinforced the structure, making disassembling it much more complicated.

This change is not something involuntary, but done on purpose. Everything indicates that Apple wants to avoid bad uses of it, such as Turn off the sound to track someone without them noticing. It is a silent way to strengthen security as much as possible, since if you really want to modify it, you will end up being able to.

In summary, the AirTag 2 did not change much from the product we already knew, but it did refine key details: It sounds louder, it is more difficult to manipulate and it shows that Apple continues to adjust those small details to improve it as much as possible.

And you, do you think that these improvements justify the release of a new version, or, on the contrary, would you have liked some real news, beyond improving the functions that already existed? Leave us a comment with your opinion. At least, in Spain, the price has been reduced, something important when purchasing them, especially if we wanted several.
