Several IPTV services illegally broadcasting television channels have suddenly ceased to be accessible from France in recent days, leaving customers completely deprived of any image. This disappearance, however, was predictable.
More than a dozen illegal IPTV sites have disappeared from the internet in the past few days. This has caused customers of the platforms in question to immediately lose access to the channels they were enjoying, it must be emphasized, completely illegally. There is an official explanation for this sudden shutdown.
The problem is not directly linked to the authorities’ recent seizure of one of the largest illegal resellers of sports channel streaming. Nor to other actions by the police, who have reportedly seized numerous IPTV operations as part of a coordinated action.
Why have a dozen IPTV sites become inaccessible
This time, it was simply the rights holders who obtained an administrative blockade of a list of IPTV platforms from the court. The implementation of this measure was the responsibility of the internet service providers (Orange, SFR, Bouygues, and Free). The latter were legally bound to implement a decision of the Paris Administrative Court dated April 10, 2025.
The decision itself is expected to last for 18 months, according to the text of the deliberation. However, it is possible that a new decision will extend the blocking measure. The text specifically mentions the list of illegal IPTV sites concerned. These are Enstream, Enstreaming, Filmstraming2, Fmovieshq, Justdaz, Monstream, Myflixer, Sadisflix, Smartv-streaming, Top-stream, Torrent9, Vidstem, and Wiflix.
Administrative blocking measures are often relatively effective against IPTV service operators. Implementing them does not guarantee a complete shutdown of access from France, for a number of reasons. Since the blocking is only actually implemented at the level of French operators, using a VPN connection, or even, in some cases, changing DNS addresses, is enough to remove the blockage.
Beyond that, this sector, which industrially handles the sale of paid subscriptions resold in packages including thousands of channels, is surprisingly dynamic. This has led to restrictions targeting popular sites, causing the emergence of multiple mirror sites.
