Apple has a significant challenge ahead. Apple Intelligence has started behind the competition, and while there are certainly plenty of alternatives to Apple Intelligence available on the iPhone, the Californian company needs to improve its offering. And the first big change will soon be seen in iOS 26, which appears to be the name of the new iPhone operating system, not iOS 19.
Apple follows its own rules, and with Apple Intelligence, the goal is to integrate AI into most of the company’s apps and services. We currently have AI in Mail, Notes, Messages, and any app where we can type. But in iOS 26, this integration will expand to new apps, including the popular Apple Shortcuts app.
Apple’s Shortcuts app is getting a revamp with AI features.
Shortcuts is one of the most useful apps Apple has ever designed, an application from which we can create different actions and automations. There are thousands of possibilities, and it seems that AI will be fully integrated in iOS 26.
The possibilities are endless, from suggestions for creating shortcuts that will help us every day to improvements in how we create them. Gurman hasn’t shared much information about the new features that will be included.
The Shortcuts app is one of the most interesting apps on the iPhone, but not many users get the most out of it. This is because it’s often not very easy to use. Apple Intelligence could help a lot in this area, making the creation process simpler. For example, by automatically creating a shortcut based on a description.
Apple Intelligence has many possibilities, and Apple is sure to add new features to successive versions of its operating systems. It seems that this year they will all upgrade to version 26 to indicate the year, a very important change within the company.
While it may seem like Apple is a bit behind the curve with its AI, the company may come up with ideas we haven’t seen elsewhere. Apple isn’t usually the first to market, but it does tend to have a great team capable of creating quite unique things.
