Apple announced tonight that its total investment in the UK has exceeded £18 billion over the past five years, while doubling its engineering teams based in the country. A strong presence in the region that Tim Cook does not hesitate to recall.
Support for employment and innovation
Apple has revealed that it supports 550,000 jobs in the UK through direct employment, its supply chain and the iOS app economy. Its UK engineering teams focus on Apple Intelligence, Private Cloud Compute and chip engineering, playing a crucial role in the company’s global operations.
Apple CEO Tim Cook said:
We have been serving our customers in the UK for over 40 years and are proud of our close links with communities there. We’re excited to strengthen our Apple teams here and continue to support the extraordinary innovators, creators, and entrepreneurs who are pushing the boundaries of technology. »
Apple TV+ production expansion
Apple has also tripled production of Apple TV+ in the UK over the past two years, creating additional jobs for actors, technical teams and hundreds of suppliers in sectors including construction, manufacturing and hotel industry. This expansion has strengthened Apple’s presence in the entertainment sector while stimulating the local economy, according to the Apple firm.
App Store success
Since the launch of the App Store in 2008 (and therefore that of iPhoneSoft), UK developers have generated £9 billion from the sale of digital goods and services, highlighting the significant impact of the platform on the digital economy of the country. In France, the Apple ecosystem has also contributed enormously to the economy.
Apple executives visit the UK
Apple VP of Marketing Greg Joswiak is currently in the UK and shared a photo from Apple Battersea, saying he was expecting a “special and exciting week.” Separately, Tim Cook was also spotted in the country, where he met Jack Lowden, star of the hit Apple TV+ series Slow Horses.
