Its name is Snapshot, and the company has just launched it in a new section of its website. This way, Apple aims to narrow the gap between users and the artists featured on the Apple TV+, Apple Music, and Apple Podcasts platforms.
This isn’t the first time Apple has ventured into an artist social network. In 2010, the California-based company launched iTunes Ping, a music social network with a song, album, and artist recommendation system. Unfortunately, it failed and disappeared a couple of years later.
Snapshot: Apple boasts of celebrities
Stephen Curry, Jennifer Aniston, Denzel Washington, Bruce Springsteen, Brad Pitt, Bad Bunny… They’ve all collaborated with Apple in one way or another. Whether through participating in sports broadcasts or Apple TV+ movies, as well as Apple Music hits, all of these artists are in some way part of the Californian company’s ecosystem.
Upon entering Snapshot, you’re greeted by a beautifully designed horizontal carousel of artist profiles that slowly scrolls across the screen. Each singer, actor, or athlete’s profile shows recent projects (songs, series, soccer matches, etc.), which services they can be found, and personal information about their birthplace, age, and musical genre.
For example, on Billie Eilish’s page, we have a brief description, a photo of her, her latest album, other songs, and even documentaries the Los Angeles singer has appeared in. The best part? Each element of the interface provides links to quickly access her music. Click-a-thon!
There’s little more to add about this sort of “social network” for Apple artists. Ultimately, it’s just another way to redirect users to its services to increase its revenue and popularity. What do you think of Snapshot?
