A new rumor suggests that Apple is currently working on a 90 Hz screen. A new model that would replace the 60 Hz screen of the iPad Air, iMac and Studio Display. Let’s hope that it is confirmed in the months and year to come.
Rumor alert
If there’s one thing Apple doesn’t put much effort into, it’s the refresh rate of its devices. The Pro model of the iPhone is 120 Hz, but the other is still limited to 60 Hz. An aberration in 2024 on a €1000 smartphone although we understand that it is simply a way of differentiating the two products.
Regarding other devices, it’s pretty much the same problem. The iPad Pro has a 120 Hz screen, but all other iPads remain stuck at 60 Hz. The same goes for the iMac and the Studio Display, both with a maximum refresh rate of 60 Hz.
If some think that Apple will eventually stop this practice, the rumor of the day does not really point in that direction. This nnew rumorfrom an anonymous source in an American podcast, claims that Apple is currently developing a 90 Hz screen. A sort of in-between that would leave the exclusivity of 120 Hz to the Pro models, while improving the fluidity of display of others.
A 90 Hz screen which would obviously be intended for the iPad Air, the iMac and the Studio Display. It wouldn’t be as impressive as 120Hz, but it would still be enthusiastically received on products that cost a certain amount of money. For the iPhone, rumors think that Apple is going to crack and offer 120 Hz on all iPhone 17s. Be careful, this is a rumor from an anonymous source, take out your tweezers.
