Last Monday, Apple unveiled iOS 26 at its inaugural WWDC25 conference. The new iPhone operating system comes with a major redesign and many new features that you can already try out, as Apple published the first beta of iOS 26 for the iPhone right after the event. And now, just a few days later, the company has released an update to this first beta of iOS 26.
This isn’t beta 2, it’s simply a revision of the first beta. This has happened before with beta versions and even with final updates.
What’s new in this iOS 26 beta?
The beta is approximately 330 MB in size, so it seems like a significant update; if it were a small update, it would barely take up a few dozen MB. Still, the previous iOS 26 beta 1 version was 23A5260n, and this newly released version is 23A5260u. So the build number is almost the same.
This update is most likely focused on bug fixes and performance improvements. It could even be aimed at fixing a security bug. It seems that only the iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 are receiving this update, so it must be something that only affects those models and not the rest of the iPhones compatible with iOS 26. There are many iOS 26 features that are exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16, so it may have something to do with that.
Personally, I’ve been testing the iOS 26 beta on my iPhone and discovering many of its new features. This beta has some issues and minor bugs, and it consumes a lot of battery, although it’s usable without any major issues. We’ll see if this revised version of iOS 26 fixes some of the bugs I’ve found or introduces any new features.
