Over the past few months, we have talked about the possibility that Apple, by 2026, will launch a new, cheaper MacBook modeldesigned for people who only want to browse, watch videos, and use office programs.

Well, everything indicates that this is real, and Apple would have already carried out tests with the A15 chip, integrated into a computer, far from the iPhone, which would be the devices for which the chip would have been created, a cheaper component than those found in the current MacBook Air and Pro.

We will have a cheap MacBook by 2026

Apple seems to be mulling over the idea of launching a cheaper-than-usual MacBook. It is not official, but it has been known because in some internal files of the company itself The reference to a MacBook that was tested with an A15 chip appeared, the same one that the iPhone 13 had. Everything indicates that it was a test model, not a product designed to be sold.

That Apple used such an old chip for a laptop may sound strange, but it makes a lot of sense when seen like that. The goal would not be to launch that MacBook on the market, but to see how macOS behaves on a chip originally designed for the iPhone. Basically, a kind of test bed to experiment and draw conclusions.

In those same files, tests with a much more modern chip, the A18 Pro, are also mentioned.. This one does fit more with the idea of a real MacBook, since it is much more powerful and current. For this reason, most rumors suggest that, if Apple ends up launching a laptop of this type, it would use a chip similar to this one and not the A15, which is already old today, so, in 2026, it would still be less competitive, and possibly a problem for running certain programs. However, it is the way to see, in turn, the years of performance that it would provide us, since, if this model is currently still working, it means that, after a long time, it could still be useful.

The idea that seems to be on the table is that of a Simple MacBook, probably 13-inchdesigned for normal day-to-day tasks and with a more reasonable price than the current MacBook Air or Pro. There is even talk that it could arrive in more striking colors, seeking a broader audience, something similar to what we see in iPhone or iPad when we talk about economic models.

In short, it does not seem that Apple is going to launch a MacBook with an A15 chip, but it is clear that it is experimenting with new ideas. Everything indicates that the company is looking for a way to offer a cheaper Mac, although for now nothing has been confirmed and we will have to see if it finally becomes a real product. They have already done it with the iPad, offering something cheaper and more functional for those who do not want to spend so much on an Air or Pro, so it is not unreasonable that we see it on computers.
