The Apple Watch recently celebrated its 10th anniversary. The original model was introduced in September 2014 and officially launched in April of the following year. To celebrate, Apple has been handing out commemorative badges in its Apple Stores throughout the day to complete the Activity rings.
The Apple Watch Series 11 isn’t expected to feature any special anniversary-related details or drastic design changes. But it could feature a number of very interesting new features, according to rumors circulating online.
New health features
Apple is working on developing new health monitoring features for the Apple Watch Series 11, including blood pressure monitoring. There have reportedly been issues with its development, and its release could be delayed, but there’s still a chance it will be available by 2025.
Monitoring systolic and diastolic blood pressure isn’t exactly accurate, but it’s a guideline. The Apple Watch Series 11 will send you notifications if it detects high blood pressure.
5G Modem
The Apple Watch Series 10 ‘s cellular connectivity chip is limited to LTE connections, but Apple is planning to introduce MediaTek technology with support for 5G RedCap, a service designed for wearables.
S11 chip
With the launch of the Apple Watch Series 11, Apple is expected to incorporate a more advanced S11 chip with optimizations to battery life and watch performance.
What’s new in watchOS 12
Everything seems to indicate that Apple is willing to incorporate major design changes in iOS 19 that will also extend to other operating systems such as iPadOS 19, macOS 16, and, perhaps, also watchOS 12.
In theory, the watchOS 12 redesign is said to be inspired by the VisionOS user interface, the platform used by Apple’s Vision Pro, with a heavy emphasis on translucent menus, oval buttons, and minimalist icons. Another new feature could include the introduction of some artificial intelligence features from Apple Intelligence.
Price
Apple is expected to receive an exemption from Donald Trump’s tariffs, but if not, the price of the Apple Watch Series 11 could increase. For now, all indications are that the base model’s starting price will be €449.
Release date
Apple will unveil its Apple Watch Series 11 alongside the Apple Watch Ultra 3 at a special event around mid-September 2025. At this event, the Californian firm will also unveil four models of its iPhone 17 line.
