With the presentation, this week, of the new Apple peripherals, such as the “new” Magic Mouse, the Magic Keyboard and the Magic Trackpad, the Californian company has generated enormous disappointment among users, who were not only expecting a redesign of the products, but an improvement in key aspects that have been tormenting those who use them.

However, the disappointment comes from that part, and that is that Apple has decided keep the same “mistakes” that the peripherals of previous generations have. So why should I buy new ones, Apple?

Apple does not solve the Magic Mouse problem

Apple is known for its focus on quality and innovation, but the company’s decisions don’t always please its users. In recent years, the company has implemented some changes to its products that many consider insufficientleaving behind some of the requests most requested by its clients.

The same has been seen with the recent update of its peripherals, such as the Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad, which have received a minimal change: Lightning port was replaced for a USB-C one, following the line of the European Union, but without improving other aspects that have been criticized for a long time.

Apple is today one of the largest technology companies in the world and, as such, its ability to customize products to suit each customer is a possibility. More than a decade ago, in 2012, technology experts Dan Moren and Lex Friedman warned that “Apple is huge now (and that’s not good for you),” referring to how the company was changing its focus by becoming a giant with billions of customers around the world. This transformation has led the company to adopt a general vision in its decisions, prioritizing profitability and efficiency on the individual desires of its users.

Apple: global point of view

It sounds bad to say it, yes, but we customers take a backseat, although it is true that Apple cannot care in the same way about each user when it faces such a large market. This affects your decisions on both popular products and less sold ones, such as peripherals. Although millions of users may have complaints, global figures weigh more in the company’s design and production decisions.

The change to the USB-C port on Apple peripherals is insufficient for users, who expected more improvements, such as Magic Mouse redesigncriticized for having its charging port at the base, preventing it from being used while charging. Apple avoids making these adjustments due to the cost of redesigning products that represent a minimal part of its sales, thus prioritizing more profitable investments.

Apple prioritizes its key devices, such as the iPhone and iPad, leaving peripherals such as the Magic Keyboard without major changes as they are not significant sales products. The company adopts a massive strategy that maximizes profits, but that often leaves users feeling ignored.
