Last April marked another Earth Day, and Apple made several announcements and launches, such as the activity challenge for the Apple Watch and its respective flagship. This year, it didn’t want to let it go unnoticed and promoted a discount program to encourage recycling. The reality is that time has passed, and you only have until May 16 to take advantage of these discounts.
Apple’s special recycling discount offer is about to end.
In case you haven’t heard about this wave of deals, all you have to do is bring a recycled piece of old technology to an Apple Store, and you’ll get a 10% discount on select products. You can also receive multiple discounts on many recycled products—in this case, up to five—and get discounts that aren’t cumulative, meaning one purchase entitles you to only a 10% discount.
You can trade in basically anything from any peripheral like keyboards, mice, monitors, headphones, speakers, to Apple products like AirPort, Apple TV, iPod, HomePod, and much more.
What products can I buy with a 10% discount? There’s a wide variety of products, but the odd thing is that you can’t buy the main products at a discount. Among the products you can find are the Apple TV 4K and the HomePod mini. Most of the discounts are on accessories, ranging from adapters, straps, cables, chargers, cases, and the Magic Keyboard, Mouse, and Trackpad. You can also buy AirTags, Apple Pencils, and any of the AirPods 4.
It’s a great effort on Apple’s part since it’s a globally available offer, so some users and fans have surely already taken advantage of it to purchase a discounted accessory or product.
Will more discount seasons come?
The only way is through Black Friday or during back-to-school season. Users who can authenticate their school or university as part of the system receive permanent education discounts. School staff and teachers are also eligible for these discounts.
It will be interesting to see if, with the tariff issue, Apple is forced at some point to lower its prices as a discount if there is a significant increase in its products. As for discounts, only one country actively offers them: China. If that were to happen in this part of the world, it would probably be surprising, although it’s a remote possibility.
