The discontinuation of support for certain devices is due to their inability to update to newer versions of their operating systems, which prevents the implementation of new features and security measures. Affected models include several iPhones (such as the iPhone 5 and 5c), as well as devices from Samsung (such as the Galaxy S3 and Note II), LG (such as the Optimus G and Nexus 4), and Motorola (such as the first-generation Moto G and Droid Razr HD).

Devices running systems older than Android 5.0 or iOS 12 are not compatible with WhatsApp, as these versions represent the minimum requirements for the app to function properly.

Users of devices affected by WhatsApp are advised to update their operating system to a compatible version. If this update is not possible, it is recommended that they purchase a new smartphone. It is also recommended that they back up their chats and media files to Google Drive or iCloud before proceeding with the device upgrade.

WhatsApp regularly updates to improve security, add new features, and optimize app performance.
