Thursday January 16. Mark this date carefully on your calendar. It is in fact at this time that Bouygues Telecom will present a new Bbox. This year, this device is not so mysterious, since an unforeseen leak revealed its main characteristics. And for good reason, an Internet user received the device by mistake! Let’s take stock.
What we already know about this Bbox
We can therefore already say that this model will be Wi-Fi 7 compatible, which places it in competition with the Freebox Ultra released in 2024. It therefore displays frequency bands 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz, if we rely on leaks spotted online. It will also have 3 Ethernet sockets, including one compatible with 10 Gb/s, the other two running at 1 Gb.s.
UPDATE: Photos of the management interface as well as the menus of the new Bbox Wi-Fi 7 and the new Wi-Fi 7 repeater!
The box and the repeater are manufactured by Sagemcom, both are tri-band Wi-Fi 7!

At first glance, this new box could be reserved for customers who have subscribed to high-end Ultym subscriptions. There is therefore uncertainty at the price level. Does Bouygues plan to revise its price list upwards?
A rival for the Freebox Ultra?
Let’s first remember the essentials, the Freebox Ultra offers a symmetrical speed of 8 Gb/s and an attractive bouquet of streaming services which offers the best of the entertainment giants including Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime Video, Universal+ and Canal+ .
Obviously, all this implies a fairly expensive offer. You must therefore count on 50 euros per month for the first year, then 60 euros at the end of the first twelve months. But it also allows you to save money if you are fond of streaming: around 230 euros per month for these different platforms.
One of our journalists tested this offer and was not entirely satisfied. In particular, Wi-Fi which leaves something to be desired, and finicky streaming services. He explained thus:
The situation got worse when streaming services started imposing their conditions. To avoid advertising on Netflix and Disney+, I had to pay extra. The bill rose to €60.49 per month, with a prospect of €70.49 after the first year. We are moving dangerously away from the initial promise.
Could Bouygues Telecom try to compete with this Premium offer by offering even more attractive prices? Response in a few days.
