Will ChatGPT succeed where all others have failed? OpenAI makes ChatGPT Search, its own internet search engine, accessible for the first time. A progressive launch with crazy expectations, that of Google competition.

ChatGPT Search: a new competitor for Google

OpenAI has just launched ChatGPT Searchits own internet search engine powered by artificial intelligence. It aims to be an alternative to ChatGPT as we know it by offering a response style similar to what Google has been doing for decades. In other words, classic web search via redirection links to sites.

ChatGPT Search is directly integrated into the ChatGPT interface to form a single service. The application will therefore offer two search styles. Either through AI directly, or through links, as we have been doing since the birth of the internet. A new small logo in the search bar allows you to switch to the new service.

Currently, OpenAI, through ChatGPT, makes money on subscriptions alone, causing it to lose billions every year. ChatGPT Search could offer it another source of revenue through advertising and partnerships with publishers and data providers. Partnerships that make it possible to supply ChatGPT Search with up-to-date data.

ChatGPT Search is initially reserved for paying subscribers of the ChatGPT Plus and ChatGPT Team plans. The company promises that it will be accessible for free to all users in the coming months, therefore in 2025.

This is likely the start of a new era for Internet search, perhaps with new opportunities for sites to reach a wider audience.

Do you think this is the end of Google’s hegemony?
