Good news for Free Mobile subscribers: the operator makes it easier to install eSIM cards directly from its iOS application. An update which streamlines the user experience, even if the price of €10 for activation remains unchanged.
Simplified installation from the Free Mobile app
No more going through the iPhone settings to scan a QR Code and enter a confirmation code. From now on, the entire process of installing an eSIM can be carried out within the Free Mobile application, in version 2.5.1.
Concretely, subscribers can order their eSIM and activate it on their iPhone in just a few taps, without leaving the app. A significant saving of time and simplicity, which is a continuation of the improvements made by Free in recent months.
Regular developments for the Free app
This is not the first time that Free has improved its mobile application. Last September, an update already made it possible to activate a SIM card and track your order from the app. Options for managing mobile lines and contact preferences for support had also been added.
Since May 2024, the application has served as a unified subscriber area by bringing together the management of mobile and Freebox offers. Customers can therefore access their invoices, monitor their data consumption, change their plan or even manage their TV options, all from their smartphone.
If the easier installation of eSIMs is a plus, we can however regret that Free Mobile always charges €10 for activation, where other operators have chosen free. The fact remains that this development is going in the right direction and demonstrates Free’s desire to simplify the lives of its subscribers.
