Gemini is already available on iPhone, via a special tab on the Google application. But, unlike Android devices, the iPhone doesn’t have a separate Gemini app. On the other hand, Gemini Live is currently only offered on Android smartphones, but not on iPhone. But that is about to change as Google is testing its new Gemini app for iPhone in the Philippines. And this application provides access to the Gemini Live experience on iPhones.

Like ChatGPT’s advanced voice mode, Gemini Live is a new voice interface that allows you to interact with Gemini’s AI as if you were chatting with a real person. The interactions are so fluid and natural that you can even interrupt the AI while it is speaking, in order to explore a point raised, for example. “It’s like having a sidekick in your pocket with whom you can discuss new ideas or practice for an important conversation.”explained Google when presenting this interface.

A competitor for Siri?

Compared to Gemini Live, older generation assistants like Siri or Google Assistant may seem obsolete. However, while Gemini Live allows for very natural interactions, it does not have the same features as traditional assistants. Indeed, Gemini Live will allow you to benefit from the knowledge of Gemini AI, but this interface will not be of any help to you if you want to check your notifications or turn off the light in your living room.

As a reminder, Google initially reserved Gemini Live for users of its paid Gemini Advanced subscription. But subsequently, it made this feature available for free to all Android users. And currently, Google seems to be preparing the launch of it on iPhone, since the page of the Gemini application, which includes the Gemini Live experience, is already published on the Philippine App Store. It is very likely that Google will deploy this new iOS application in other countries later.

  • Google already offers a Gemini app, which includes the Gemini Live conversational experience, in the Philippines
  • Comparable to ChatGPT’s advanced voice mode, Gemini Live allows you to have ultra-smooth interactions with AI, as if you were chatting with a human
  • Google first offered Gemini Live to paying users, before rolling out the feature to all Android users for free
  • And after the test in the Philippines, the firm should launch its new iOS application in other countries
