If you feel like the Google search engine is providing increasingly less relevant answers, you’re not alone. But rest assured, Sundar Pichai, CEO of the Tech giant, promises that things will improve next year. Here’s what to remember from his announcements.

Surprises to come

The manager, who participated in the DealBook Summit of New York Times this Wednesday, promised that the search engine “would change profoundly” next year. He adds: “I think you’ll be surprised, even in early 2025, what kinds of newer things Search can do compared to what it is today. »

The CEO took the opportunity to respond to the dig addressed by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella. The latter explained at the start of the year that Google should have been “the winner by default” in the race for AI. And Sundar Pichai replied: “I’d like to do a side-by-side comparison of Microsoft’s own models and our models. » He specifies that the Redmond firm “uses someone else’s templates”. This refers to OpenAI.

Concerning AI, the boss of Google also made a new promise:

When I look at what lies ahead, we are in the early stages of profound change. I just think there’s so much innovation to come. We are committed to being at the forefront of technology in this area, and I believe we have achieved that.

How could Google change?

It is of course impossible to know what exactly Sundar Pichai is referring to. We can nevertheless recall that the Tech giant introduced its AI previews this year on the search engine.

Recently, Rhiannon Bell, vice president of user experience at Google, presented a change in search using AI. Instead of giving a closed-ended answer, this could help you go through several until you find the one that suits you best. This concerns the results related to recipes and restaurants in the initial experiment.

Quoted by FastCompanythe manager then explained: “We know that users love to browse and that there is a joy in discovery… it’s not always about that instant response. We’re looking to organize search from a content perspective in new ways that feel more natural to users. »
