In 2015, Disney and Pixar came to play with our emotions by releasing Vice Versa. Both funny and moving, it won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature in 2016 and quickly became a staple in Pixar’s catalog.

We had to wait almost 10 years for Riley and his endearing emotions to meet us again. Good news: Vice-Versa 2 did not disappoint us and did not give in under the pressure of the heavy expectations of the spectators.

This second opus made it possible to present new emotions (more subtle and “sophisticated”) while puberty hits Riley hard. This cocktail of emotions did not spare us, and I left the dark room with a tight throat, a slightly heavy heart, a tear in the corner of my eye but, above all, a smile on my lips.

The return of Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust delighted viewers and Disney was not going to miss this opportunity. So, the house with big ears benefited. This Wednesday, December 11, 2024 arrives Dreams Productionsan animated series about the dream factory in Riley’s head. We were able to devour the episodes of Dreams Productions. Here’s what we thought about it.

A hilarious trip behind the scenes of dreams

There is no need to procrastinate: Dreams Productions is extremely funny. Made up of only 4 episodes of around 20 minutes each, the animated series takes us behind the scenes of young Riley’s dreams. We had already seen quickly how this happened in the first film. What a pleasure to see so much more!

To create Riley’s dreams, it takes talented directors. Among them is Paula Persimmon. Flagship director of Rêves Productions for a time, the “filmmaker” is no longer really in the game. But the problem is that she doesn’t realize it yet… So when she is entrusted with the creation of Riley’s next big dream, her future darkens.

Because yes, dreams are formative and can influence us when we wake up. Paula had better hang on if she doesn’t want to lose her job at Rêves Productions. After the departure of her assistant, she finds herself associated with the ambitious Xeni who, let’s say it, has her own vision of dreams.

So, Dreams Productions is filmed like a documentary on, precisely, the “great” Paula Persimmon… And like all good mockumentary who respects himself, Dreams Productions is hilarious. Filming the series like a documentary with a protagonist who is completely off the mark, there is something to remind us The Office. The chaos she sows, the looks at the camera, the interviews with the characters around her… We laughed a lot. So, Dreams Productions is funny and refreshing. The series allows us to have a little refreshment afterwards Vice-Versa 2and there is no reason to deprive yourself of it.

Behind this layer of humor, we become attached to Paula Persimmon and we can only identify with this character who is, ultimately, simply lacking creativity. And the anxiety of the blank page should speak to more than one person.

If you want to take a new look inside Riley’s head, Dreams Productions is available on Disney+ from this Wednesday, December 11, 2024. On the program? 4 episodes just waiting for you to binge-watch.
