Last week in the Community of Madrid we had a very attractive bridge and I occurred to me the brilliant idea of investing my time in talking to Siri. Or rather, I decided not to invest my time in using the iPhone to let Siri make for me the decisions of a whole day. The result? It will surprise you.

Most users, due to the limitations that Siri currently has, only uses the assistant to put timers or create reminders or look at the time. However, my head was gone and I decided to take the reins of my life for 24 hours.

I used Siri for a whole day: What happened?

The experiment was simple: for a whole day I would not make any decision for myself without asking Siri before. What breakfast? Do I go for a walk or play the paddle or stay at home? I answer that message or do I ignore it? Everything would go through its “intelligence filter.”

The first thing I did was configure the iPhone so that Siri was as accessible as possible. I activated the constant voice mode, deactivated absurd restrictions and armed myself with patience. When the alarm sounds at 8:30, I did not turn it off. I asked Siri: “Should I get up or sleep 10 more minutes?” His response was blunt: “Sleeping 10 more minutes can affect your productivity. I recommend you get up now”. First blow of authority. I stood up like a robot between laughter for its frank response.

I went to the kitchen and asked what breakfast. “I suggest you oatmeal with fruit. It is a healthy option to start the day. ”Well, nothing, I had to rule out my traditional avocado and tomato toast for that day.

Then came the clothes. “What should put me today, Siri?” To which he responded with a cold but practical tone: “Check the forecast of time: today there are 17 degrees and possibility of rain. I recommend a light jacket and waterproof footwear.” Siri's voice seemed to have more common sense than me, because he thought about leaving without a showproof to collect a package.

Things got complicated when I started working. I had to write an article, but I doubted which of three issues address. I asked Siri: “Which of these issues is best for Google Discover today?” To which he replied: “I'm sorry, I can't help you with that.” First negative.

The real chaos came at noon. “Should I ask for food or cook something?” And Siri, with its relentless efficiency: “cooking at home is usually healthier and more economical.” But he didn't tell me what could cook. When trying to choose between pasta and rice, he replied: “Both are valid options. It depends on your nutritional preferences.” Come on, here washed his hands. Sorry Siri, I made chicken fillets with peas.

I tried to complicate him in the afternoon: “Should sports do now or rest for a while?” To which he replied: “Exercise improve your physical and mental health. I recommend a 30 -minute walk.” I obeyed. I took a walk along with my camera.

With the night the final test came: “Should a series see a book?” He replied: “Read stimulates your mind and improve your concentration. I recommend you dedicate 30 minutes to reading before bed.” A decent advice of a therapist.

Would you do it again? Maybe, but not tomorrow. I need to recover control over my breakfasts and my decisions. Because although Siri can help you not lose course, it is true that today it is not as autonomous as it should, especially when advising you to make more human decisions. In addition, it has no sense of humor nor is it able to improvise.
