In this post, I tell you why I think Avocado AI is one of the best alternatives to Apple Intelligence, especially considering that, although many users were looking forward to it, the model developed by Tim Cook’s guys will not be available in Spain for quite some time.
This new and innovative application, available in the App Store, promises to replace its Apple counterpart, offering similar functionalities and adapting to the specific needs of each user. I also want to highlight that it is an open source application, so its source code is accessible and can be used and modified by anyone. This means that It is totally freethat any user can be aware of the development of the app, and can contribute to its improvement.
To put it in context, the work of this assistant is very similar to what Apple Intelligence does with text generation, but with the difference that it does everything without depending on specific hardware (I use it with an iPhone 13 Pro Max) and without depending on the internet connection at all. What surprises me is that the responses are not slow at all, it is practically capable of responding to you in the same time as the rest of the models that do depend on the internet.
One of the latest updates to the app incorporates the option to choose between different models of artificial intelligence, more or less intelligent but faster and with less battery and resource consumption, depending on your preferences. It also keeps a list of the conversations you have with the chatbot, so you can review them at any time.
Artificial intelligence without internet connection
The interface is quite visual, with a section dedicated to the assistant, very similar to ChatGPT, to which you can write to ask for whatever you need, such as writing an email, among other things. On the other hand, it has a section that has pleasantly surprised me and that is that it displays a text editor to which you can request specific functions. It’s as simple as pasting the text and choosing what you want it to do with it. You can select between rewrite textcorrect it, write it in a more professional way, in a more romantic and narrative way, summarize it, write it in more colloquial and friendly language, and even an option that allows you to point out the most important points.
In this regard, there is little more to ask for. It does it without problems and, most importantly, it does everything without depending on an internet connection and without you having the new iPhone 16, or failing that, the 15, another of the terminals compatible with Apple Intelligence.
It is true that the app, which visually resembles the native Reminders app, due to the color of the buttons incorporated into it, and their organization, could be a little more pleasing to the eye. But what can we ask of an assistant who performs in this immaculate way without needing an internet connection at any time.
