The invention is called Magic Screen and it has been presented by a company called Intricuit.
The idea is simple: it attaches to the MacBook using the laptop's own magnets and connects with a single USB-C cable. From there, you can touch the screen, gesture, swipe, zoom with your fingers, and everything you would do on a mobile phone or iPad. In addition, it includes a pen with pressure sensitivity, so it can also be used for drawing, taking notes or working on design.
A curious detail is that This screen has its own battery and it lasts a long time (up to 100 hours, they say). And when you're not using it with your MacBook, you can take it off and use it as a standalone tablet for drawing or writing. It also allows you to mirror the iPhone on the screen, so you can manage mobile apps directly from there.
All this is striking because Apple has been saying for years that it does not want MacBooks with a touch screen. They have always argued that it is not comfortable to touch a vertical screen and that, for that, the iPad already exists. Even so, rumors have been suggesting for some time that Apple is changing its mind.
According to several analysts and specialized journalists, Apple would be working on a MacBook Pro with real touch screenintegrated into the OLED panel, and could arrive between the end of 2026 and the beginning of 2027. So while Apple decides, accessories like this Magic Screen are filling the gap for those who have been asking for years to touch the Mac screen with their fingers.
For now we do not know its price, nor when we could purchase it directly, since it has been presented, as we said, at an event.
