Today the 5g It is a widespread network in our country, as well as in the rest of the world. It is difficult for you to live somewhere where you do not have this connection. We all know that it is faster, or so they tell us, however, they have cons that could make it not as interesting today as we believe.

IPhone phones have their own system within the settings that allow us activate only 5G in certain caseswhere battery consumption is less important, however, it is still much greater than making use of other networks such as 4G, and we will see it.

4G or 5G, what consumes more battery?

Most people believe that improvement in networks causes them to also consume less, something that does happen with other connectives such as Bluetooth, or even Wi -Fi, which has a much lower consumption than using data, however, it is not so, and 5G has a consumption quite larger than 4G.

In addition, currently, although almost the entire Spanish territory has this network, it does not have an infrastructure that provides maximum speed, and is usually quite saturated. Something that you can easily check doing a speed test, to later do it in 4G, and possibly surprise you, since in many of the occasions this network will have higher performance than the most current.

That is, is the 4G faster and consume less battery? Not quite, although it is true that, due to the saturation we are talking about, in many areas of Spain it is possible, therefore, what we recommend today, is that you do a 4G speed test, and if this is high and more than enough for your needs, forces to leave this connection always, since you will spend less battery and you will not notice the difference with others.

If you do not know how to do it, it is very simple, we will only have to do the following from our iPhone:

  • Gonna Settings> Mobile Data> Options> Voice and Data
  • Select between 5G automatic, 5g activated or always 4g

If we select 5G automatic, as we said before, it will only be activated when battery consumption is not so extreme, however, it will continue to consume more than 4G. Subsequently, we have the 5G always option, which is the worst, and finally the one we want to try, the 4G, ignoring the superior networks.

As a curiosity, at this time, after I do the test in my city, the 5G network offers me 23 MB of descent, while the 4G does so in 35 MB, therefore, there is a specific saturation, and my iPhone has the active 5g, spending more battery and getting it to go, in turn, slower.

And you, did you know this? Do you really think we are prepared for 5G, or a lot to see a stable megas connection as they promised us in their day? Some countries are already deploying even 6G, when will we see it in Spain?
