The latest generation of POCO in the mid-range and upper-mid-range has been seeing the light of day since the beginning of the year, but it hasn’t been until now that Xiaomi has released its flagships: the POCO F7 Pro and POCO F7 Ultra are here, and what high-end beasts they are.
POCO smartphones are characterized by their very reasonable price tag and great power at the same time. The X7 Pro is currently one of the undisputed kings of the mid-range, capable of giving many phones over €500 a run for their money in terms of power and gaming, and its bigger siblings have just arrived with plenty of muscle to raise the bar even further.
These are very interesting models in both cases, although today we’re going to focus on the POCO F7 Pro Ultra, the more powerful of the two. It’s a phone that’s priced at the lower end of the high-end range, but it’s on par with the most advanced devices in many ways. Let’s take a closer look.
POCO F7 Ultra: specifications and features
POCO F7 Ultra | |
Screen | Flow AMOLED 6.67” 2K+ at 120Hz Peak brightness up to 3,200 nits |
Processor | Snapdragon 8 Elite |
Cameras | Main sensor 50 MP Telephoto 50 MP Wide angle 32 MP Front 32 MP |
Memory and storage | 12 / 16 GB RAM 256 / 512 GB storage |
Battery | 5,300 mAh 120W Fast Charging, 50W Wireless Charging |
Others | Dual nanoSIM NFC GPS WiFi 7 IP68 resistance |
As you can see, this is a device that emphasizes its raw power and electronic muscle, something that comes as no surprise. The Snapdragon 8 Elite processor is accompanied by an Adreno 830 GPU, making it the most powerful POCO and capable of handling any demanding game or application, up to the 120Hz display.
The display, by the way, doesn’t disappoint either: the 6.67-inch Flow AMOLED panel is designed to work hand in hand with the processor and bring the visual experience of any application to its maximum potential. The 2 K+ resolution gives us an exceptional pixel density of 526 ppi, resulting in a spectacular display at all levels, also highly responsive and protected by the latest-generation POCO Shield Glass.
It’s surprising in the camera department, and while the POCO phones have never stood out for their photography (maintaining so much power in a cheap phone requires sacrifices), this time the F7 Ultra stands out with a 2.5x telephoto lens that the Pro doesn’t have and a 32 MP wide-angle lens. It’s still not a phone for professional photography, but this generation performs very well.
Yes, it is surprising, and this time for the worse, that the Ultra comes with a 5,300 mAh battery compared to the Pro’s 6,000 mAh, although in return it gives us 50W wireless charging and 120W fast charging.
The opinion of Topes de Gama
Is the POCO F7 Ultra worth it? Well, with the phone’s official price of €699.99 right now on the official Xiaomi store, plus a €50 discount for the launch offer, we can say it’s one of the best options for those looking for a display and graphics power in a device. Plus, it offers good performance and options in all its other aspects. If you want the best without spending too much, this is undoubtedly a spectacular phone.
However, if we add quality-price to the equation, we would probably opt for its not-so-small brother, the POCO F7 Pro, which also has impressive power, although somewhat less, the same screen, and a price €150 lower.
