Since the announcement of the Apple Vision Pro which took place over a year ago, Mark Zuckerberg has not hesitated to criticize Apple and its strategy. The CEO of Meta has just conducted a new interview last night, he explains that Meta is the complete opposite of Apple and that the strategy of the Cupertino firm is not the right one. An interview that will probably get a lot of talk at Apple Park!

Mark Zuckerberg’s Last Interview

Since the release of the Apple Vision Pro, Mark Zuckerberg has been increasingly critical of his competitor Apple. In a recent interview with the podcast “Acquired,” Zuckerberg spoke out again to highlight a major difference between his company and Apple. According to him, Meta’s strategy is “the opposite of Apple” on several fundamental points.

One of his main criticisms of Apple is the time it takes the brand to develop and launch its products. A telling example is the Apple Vision Pro, which took more than eight years to design before it was put on the market. Zuckerberg criticizes this perfectionist approach, which he considers too long and too cautious.

Conversely, Meta prioritizes product shipping speed to obtain user feedback and correct product errors and imperfections. This method allows Meta to launch products quickly, even if it means that the first versions are not fully developed.

The irony of this interview is that Zuckerberg openly admits that consumers are (unknowingly) acting as “beta testers” to help improve future generations. He justifies this approach by explaining that, in his opinion, waiting for a perfect version wastes valuable time and delays learning from market feedback.

This fast-to-market strategy is also about taking risks and innovating faster than Apple. Zuckerberg is certain that waiting for praise or aiming for perfection delays innovation and opportunities to progress. Apple’s strategy is therefore bad, according to the Meta CEO’s reasoning.

This is not the first time that Zuckerberg has publicly expressed his criticism of Apple. He has previously denounced the restrictive policies of the App Store, as well as the “elitist” side of Apple’s “loyalties.” His opposition to Apple’s methods has continued to grow, especially since the Cupertino company entered the mixed reality headset market with the Apple Vision Pro, a segment where Meta had previously positioned itself as a leader.

While no official shipment statistics are available yet, it’s likely that the arrival of the Apple Vision Pro has impacted sales of Meta’s mixed reality headsets, perhaps causing some bitterness within Zuckerberg.
